Blog Post of the Day:
Tell me about your Homecoming weekend! If you didn't participate in the Homecoming festivities, what did you do? Share pics!

I didn't go to Homecoming, so...
Instead, I went to a debate tournament! And, in all seriousness, debate kids are mean. And novice debate kids are stupid. Like, I could hardly believe how much of an idiot some of these people were. Luckily, I managed to snag a couple cookies. Because it was my first tournament, and all. Yay debate!
Not really. It was horrible. I lost three out of four rounds. And some of those people... Oh god. So bad. It was a pretty monstrous experience.
No pictures, sorry. I was a bit preoccupied with fending off those beastly debate kids. So, instead, here's a picture of a baby cow, although I doubt you animal killers really care. Civilized society my foot. Don't be mad at me; be mad at the world that managed to convince you murder was acceptable.
Anyway, here's the baby cow:

Blog Post of the Day:
Imagine Mr. Bacon has asked you to suggest one way of improving Blue Valley High School to make it a better place for students. Think about the changes that are needed at your school. Pick one change you feel would really make a difference and explain what it is and why you'd make the change.

There are no changes that I feel are really necessary, and, either way, this is high school. Come on, people. Let's get real.
I guess, if I could change anything, I would suggest the library stock up on books on psychology and knitting. I like both of those things, however, I can't find any books on them. I mean, I could just go to a public library, but then I wouldn't be able to keep them past their due date without being forced to pay a fee. Ew, fees. So, yeah, that's the change I would suggest.
 Has books.

Blog Post of the Day:
What are your favorite apps on your phone or tablet? Why?

I have no favorite apps, and because there aren't any favorites, I don't have any reasoning to explain. I mean, there aren't any specially amazing apps, and, therefore, I have no favorite. Do I really have to pick one?
Um... I like the flashlight app? Since I have an iPhone 3, I don't have a built in flashlight. Having a flashlight on me at all times is nice. Helps my anxiety. See this flashlight? Because of my flashlight app, I have all that and more.
C'mon, who uses an actual flashlight these days anyway? Flashlights... Aha. How quaint. How rustic. But I'm good with my flashlight app, thanks.

Blog Post of the Day:

What is email? When do you use email in your own personal life? List reasons and ways that people use email. What do you know about "email etiquette"?

Email is a messaging system in which you can communicate with people all over the world so long as you have their user address. I email my mom, since I don't live with her anymore, and I sometimes email long distance friends. People could use email for communication, business, or news. They can email from their phones or computers. When writing an email, there are different rules than when talking to other people, since, unless the person whom you are speaking wears a wire at all times, they cannot prove you said what you said without witnesses. If you email someone a giant assortment of insults followed by around five death threats, they can press charges against you. However, if you do the exact same thing to their face in a darkened alleyway, it will be harder for them to prove the assumed murder plot you're creating.
See? Play it safe when you use the internet. You don't want to go jail before you even pull through with your crimes.

Blog Post of the Day:
Now that you've been in Emerging Technology for several weeks... What do you think? Do you think the web tools (Drive, Evernote, Bubbl, etc.) are helpful to you? Do you think they will be helpful throughout high school or even college? Explain.

Since I already knew how to use Drive, which I consider to be the most important tool here, I'm not going to comment on it. I learned how to use that on my own, and it's pretty simple, anyway.
Evernote, I think, could be an exceptional study tool throughout my life, even after college. However, much like Drive, it was a generally easy thing to figure out. I just didn't really use it up until now.
Emerging Technology is an okay class. It isn't super totally amazingly awesome, but it's not nearly as bad as, say, Biology. I don't think I learned anything new in here, but my global issue might end up helping me in debate. Having a blog is kind of fun, even if no one is ever going to read it. In fact, knowing it's basically my own secret journal is a bit comforting.
Obviously, if you're reading it right now, the previous statement is no longer applicable.

Blog Post of the Day:
Do you enjoy writing? When do you enjoy it? What kind of writing do you enjoy? Why do you think the ability to write is so important no matter what kind of writing it is? Give an example that you enjoyed writing or hated writing. Why?

I hate most types of writing. Making little essays and scribbling down math notes just isn't my thing. But I do like writing stories, and I want to be an author someday. Any type of fictional writing is really fun for me, even if my inspiration is a bit fickle.
Writing is important, though, because even if I hate taking math notes, they'll be mighty helpful on the math test.
Writing any type of fiction ever: Enjoyable. That type of stuff is fun. Yay fiction.
Writing any type of notes and/or essay: Not enjoyable. In fact, I really hate these.
I like typing much more than actual writing by hand, though. I have bad hand writing.

Blog Post of the Day:
Reflect on this quote. Give an example of a time in your life that this might have been the case.

This quote is in the debate room, by the way. And it doesn't really fit my lifestyle, if we're being honest here.
But hey. That's not what this is about. So I procrastinate. Meh.
When in my life... When in my life... Hmm... Oh! Well, this one time, in fourth grade, I had a math test! So, in preparation for the previously mentioned math test, I blew off all my homework and took a nice long nap instead of studying. Nice, huh?
Yeah, I failed that test. No shame here, though. I'm here now, so I obviously passed fourth grade. I look back on that memory and laugh, now...
Ahahahahahahaha-no.

What did you do this weekend? Share pictures if you have them!

Over the weekend, I didn't really do anything. I slept all Friday, I looked for pasta on Saturday, and then I joined a church related knitting group on Sunday. On Saturday, my sister called me fat. Sad face. No pictures, sorry.

Blog Post of the Day:
What is the importance of research? Why do you need to know how to research? What have you learned in high school about researching topics and finding quality resources? Have you had a helpful teacher that has taught you to research? Explain.

Doing research basically reassures you that you're doing it right. If you do research, you have a thousand other people on the internet saying you did it correctly, and, chances are, they're right. Throughout life, you'll have to research a variety of different things all the time, hence why you should know how to research, even if most of the stuff you research will ultimately be useless to you.
I've been in highschool for about three weeks, and, as you can assume, have learned very little so far. (I already want to graduate. These next four years have better go by in a flash.) Teachers, in general, are not my favorite people. Even if there was one down the line who taught me something of importance, I don't remember them at all. They probably weren't a big part of my life anyway.
Then again, I, in general, hate everyone. So it's nothing personal.

Blog Post of the Day:
Pretend that you are in your seventies or eighties. Complain about kids these days.

(In first person? Meh.)
If I really try, I can still manage to remember being young. And I guess it was nice while it lasted. Being able to walk around with cringing at the sound of my own knees cracking... Being able to wake up in the morning without taking my own teeth out of the water I keep at my bedside... Being able to smile without a small child running away in horror...
And how dare those little punks treat me like the terrifying one! If I see a group of, say, eighth graders, walking on the street, I will cross to the other side. I don't need their sass, and neither does John Mulaney.
Now, let's pause to think back on what kitten's look like. Fuzzy, sweet, playful, with the most adorably awkward faces. Now onto human babies. Disgust incarnate, right? And they grow up to be so much trouble. Wouldn't you rather have, say, a ferret?
But the human race has to continue. With the way the future generations of the planet seem to be turning out, I'd rather it didn't.
Did you know the sea cucumber is endangered? Psh. I didn't expect you to. Those darn conservative children, already driving America into the ground with their need for saturated fats...

Blog Post of the Day:
Tell me about the global issue you selected. What do you already know about the issue? What are you looking forward to learning about it? Explain.

Overfishing is my global issue. I didn't particularly want to do anything on any of them, so I picked an issue that would help me in other classes. I know the issue effects the national food supply, fish species across this watery globe of ours, and ecosystems everywhere.
Yeah, I used an Oxford comma. I happen to like them. Got an issue? Take it to the bank, buddy.
I'm searching for information that will answer my dandy questions on the topic, but the answers are quite elusive... Just like most tuna will be if we don't stop ovefishing the earth's waters.
Notice the distinct lack of fish in the picture below.

Blog Post of the Day:
What did you do this weekend? Share pictures if you have them!

My weekend was overall uneventful. I worked on my geometry homework, but I'm still three worksheets behind. I completely blew off my HELA homework, which proved itself to be a bad decision. My cousins showed up for a soccer game they had in Kansas. They live in Illinois though, and I hardly ever see them, so it was sort of like housing strangers and then letting them sleep in your bed. I like my bed, thank you. I had to watch my little sister while my dad mowed the lawn. Every time my dad gives into her whiny little two year old wishes, I can't help but think back to my own childhood memories of doing the electric chair after refusing to eat a dead chicken corpse.
My sister and I made this really cool paprika pasta dish for dinner. It tasted great, even with the soy nuggets. Unfortunately, we had no flour, so I ended up eating dinner at 9:00 P.M yesterday. I was so hungry. But because I ate late, I wasn't hungry this morning, so when I ate breakfast I didn't eat a lot because I wasn't hungry, so now I'm really hungry. My stomach is it's own entity, and it's angry with me.

Blog Post of the Day:
If you could make your own report card, in what imaginary subjects would you get an A? Come up with at least five.  What would go on your imaginary report card?

If I could make my own report card then, regardless of subject, I would receive a B+ on almost everything. If every subject was labeled A+, it would seem snooty, but a C+ would make me seem stupid, so every single subject would be a B+. No matter what the subject is, I'm making the report card, and therefore, everything would be in my command; my talent in the subject is void. If I want to change one grade to an A+, then I need to change another one to a C+, and therefore, B+ is the perfect medium.
The report card shown below:
Sleeping: B+
Cooking: B+ (I am such a liar.)
Eating: C+ (Don't worry, this goes somewhere.)
Reading clocks: B+
Thinking: A+ (Well, I couldn't give myself a B in thinking, could I?)

Blog Post of the Day:
Yesterday I asked your to "think differently" and push yourself to be uncommon with your PSA project using Google Slides. Why do you think I asked you to do that? What is the point? Why not just use bullets and headers? Explain.

Most would say that there isn't any. Why bother with silly little things like the PSA project you had to do in that one little class when you were still in high school? It's not like you're ever going to use that in real life, right?
Wrong.
Doing things like this teaches us about new perspectives and slowly eases us into being comfortable with a variety of different things, from public speaking to creative thinking. It may seem pointless, but later in life, it'll be helpful. It's doubtful that anyone in this class will just stop one day and think 'oh man am I glad I took that one class that one time' or ever thank Mrs. Scheuerman for her efforts, but subconsciously, it will end up being helpful.
One day you'll need to look at something from the perspective of someone else. Because of the Biology class you took, that Geometry class you cursed all the way, and the Honors English Language Arts class you really thought should just have been called Language Arts, you'll have different mindsets ingrained inside you, just waiting to pop out when they're needed.
But, all the same, I'm a fourteen year old girl who has experienced literally nothing of importance. So you probably shouldn't take my word for it.

Tell me all about your Labor Day weekend. What did you do? Include photos!

I drove to Illinois and then I drove back to Kansas. It took longer than expected. I didn't take any photos, but I guess I can post a picture of Illinois. Or maybe my ferret or something. My mom, who lives in Illinois, bought another ferret, so now there are three. Jess is my favorite, because he's really fluffy and even though he plays with the feather duster, if you pick him up, he won't struggle. It's annoying when they struggle... (Cackle, cackle. Evil laugh.) It took a while to drive there and then drive back, though.
Oh, yeah. My dad blew the money he's been saving since he was twelve on an island in Michigan. I put up a picture of Butterfield Island instead. I mean, who wants to look at a ferret? They are an acquired taste, after all.
